Ritz Paris Reopening

The Ritz Paris finally reopened this Monday after a four year renovation project by the French architect and designer Thierry Despont. As he told The New York Times,“It needed a redo, but maintaining its essence and strong identity was essential, and my vision was to keep the Ritz exactly as it was but better.”

The hotel which opened originally in 1898 didn’t just get redecorated but received a major overhaul of the plumbing, heating system, and and air conditioning as well as the most important thing, high-speed Wi-Fi access. The number of rooms has actually decreased from 159 to 142 which include 71 suites, many of which are named for famous guests such as Coco Chanel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Marcel Proust, and Maria Callas.

Bar Hemingway has also been refurbished and I’m sure Hemingway himself would be pleased. “When I dream of afterlife in heaven, the action always takes place in the Paris Ritz.”

The thing I’m most excited to experience is first ever Chanel spa and the garden designed with help from French landscape architect Jean Mus.
