I’ve come across a few great new places in New York and online so thought I’d share a few with you. None of them are sponsored, so I can assure you that they are completely personal recommendations.
Yesterday, I visited on the Upper East Side for a cleaning, whitening, and Invisalign scanning. Lavaan was founded in the West Village by husband and wife dentist duo Dr. Jeffrey Rappaport and Dr. Michelle Katz to offer a “destination where patients could receive dental care in a luxurious and relaxing environment.” It’s clean, white, and bright with all the latest technology which reminded me of the dental version of . It’s the perfect place for me since I’ve never had a cavity and only need basic dental services. If you need more advanced care, they can refer you to another dentist. On a side note, my best advice to my younger readers is to always wear sunscreen and always wear your retainer. Both will save you thousands of dollars later in life.

on Lexington a while and was intrigued by their concept. Like Lavaan, it’s bright and light and focuses on a few targeted facial treatments. When I first researched them, I didn’t understand why I would choose them over Mario Badescu. Then last week, I read about them on
and realized exactly why I will be adding them to my skincare regime. I’m a sucker for anything that uses advanced technology and can’t wait to try a facial with their new PureLift facial toning device.
is not new but it’s new to me. I was Googling a product I needed to buy last week when they popped up as a retailer selling the item so I decided to give them a try. Their tag line is “prices drop as you shop” and it reminds me of Cosco for the internet set. I’ve ordered from Amazon, Fresh Direct, and other sites before but what I love about Jet is the breadth of their products. I ordered toilet paper, Fekkai products, cinnamon, and Deborah Lippmann nail polish. The also sell groceries, fresh food, baby products, pet care, furniture, fashions, electronics, and more. I have a CVS a block and a half away but sometimes my schedule is so busy that I can’t even find time to get there so
is perfect for busy New Yorkers. The best past is that you can save 15% on your first three orders and my box arrived the next day. I’m sold!
As you know, I love for their chic basics at great prices. One of my favorite sweaters was their black crewneck Luxe Sweater and now they offer the extra fine Merino wool in six different style and five new colors. The lighter weight makes them great for transitional dressing and warmer climates. I’m order a bunch today.
I saw a girl wearing a at the Cartier mansion party the other night. I actually asked her where it was from and she said . I used to shop them in Paris but finally went downtown yesterday to check out the dress. Unfortunately, it didn’t look good on me but I did end up buying the in black and white for an upcoming press trip to the Cayman Islands in January. You could wear it as a regular dress but it looked more like a chic beach caftan to me.
Fashion designer and filmmaker showed his latest collection at the Four Seasons this week. What was different is that he showed a fall collection at the start of fall and it’s available to buy now on . I’m dying for that grey ensemble above. This concept isn’t new but it’s quickly becoming more popular in our Veruca Salt “I want it now” culture. I will say there is nothing more annoying than seeing something at a show that you wish you could buy immediately and not having that option. Usually by the time you can buy the item, you no longer want it anyway. I’m sure this new retail premise might be hard for some small brands to replicate but I hope this “see now, buy now” model becomes the new norm.
Tom Ford also just debuted a new film at the Venice Film Festival that’s getting rave reviews. It’s based on a book by the same name and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Michael, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Armie Hammer, and Isla Fisher. The movie is about an art gallery owner who is haunted by her ex-husband novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale. It should be released in November in the US.
Additionally, there’s a really interesting interview with Tom Ford in the new issue of the where he discusses the film. It’s definitely worth the read.
